Malaysia is the latest country to join the exciting bandwagon of countries that allow Indians to enter without a visa. Indians planning a trip to Malaysia will no longer need a visa, as the country recently announced visa-free entry for Indian and Chinese citizens.

Indians can now visit 30 countries without a visa, including Malaysia. Albania, Mauritius, Barbados, Montserrat, Bhutan, Nepal, British Virgin Islands, Niue, Cook Islands, Oman, Dominica, Qatar, El Salvador, Senegal, Fiji, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Haiti, Sri Lanka, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Macau (SAR China), Thailand, Micronesia, Vanuatu, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that this change will take effect on December 1 for all Indian and Chinese visitors. The Malaysian tourist e-visa currently costs INR 3,799 per person
Indian visitors can stay for up to 30 days without a visa under the new visa-free policy. However, security screenings for Indian nationals will continue.

The visa-free policy was implemented to increase the number of visitors from the two countries, India and China. It is common knowledge that India and China are two of Malaysia’s most important markets. The country is also interested in attracting more investors from these two countries. Visitors can now enjoy seamless travel to Malaysia, which is easily one of the best tourist destinations in Asia, thanks to a simplified entry process.

Prior to Malaysia’s entry, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Thailand were the most recent countries to allow Indians to enter without a visa. However, as of now, countries such as Sri Lanka and Thailand have made this visa-free provision for Indians until March 31 and May 10, respectively, of the following year.

A visa-free trip does not imply a visa-on-arrival or an e-visa. It simply means that you book your flight, pack your belongings, and depart for your destination. There is no paperwork involved at all. It’s the same as traveling to any other location within one’s own country.
